Olivia Steele is a conceptual neon artist. She uses the medium to “charge spaces with ironic and spiritual meaning.” I have always been an admirer of neon signs. They certainly had their vogue mid-century, and the art is just not the same as it used to. There are die-hard artists, however, that bring a modern twist to the medium. I like a lot of the messages in Olivia’s work, and the use of handwritten script. Each work feels more personal, and not like it’s trying to sell you something.
