I love ballet. Full stop. I have never really taken any to speak of, not even in my brief two year sojourn into dance (I have the video of me in a pink spandex number with a bowler hat and gold glove dancing to Michael Jackson’s Dangerous to prove it). I know first through fifth positions and, well, that’s it.
I have always been exceptionally fascinated by extremes. I love gymnastics and ballet, both athletic pursuits that involve gruelling effort from a young age. Perpetual youth and grace. I especially love ballet, its old traditional works, and the facts that dancers have been dancing the same grand, sweeping steps across stages for hundreds of years. But I’m getting mushy in my love.
Mark Olich is a Russian photographer who takes phenomenal shots of dancers. I could just drool over his stuff all night. I think I will!
